A visit to Mosser Glass
A Visit to Mosser Glass: Behind the Scenes, New Treasures & a Sneak Peek at What’s Coming Soon
There’s something completely different about seeing beautiful glassware in a photograph and actually watching it being made.
This week, I had the opportunity to visit Mosser Glass in Cambridge, Ohio—and for someone who sells and collects American-made glass, it was a trip I had been looking forward to.
From the moment I walked into the showroom, I was surrounded by color.
Shelves filled with Mosser Glass in an incredible range of colors, shapes, and patterns made the showroom feel like a treasure hunt. Some pieces were familiar favorites, while others immediately had me thinking about what I might bring to Fine Vintage Treasures next.
But the highlight of the visit was seeing how the glass is actually made.
Watching molten glass become a finished piece gives you an entirely different appreciation for the craftsmanship behind every piece of Mosser Glass. The heat, the molds, the skilled hands of the glassworkers, and the timing required throughout the process are reminders that this is still hands-on American glassmaking.
Each piece passes through multiple steps before it ever reaches a collector’s shelf.
Seeing the process firsthand reinforced one of the reasons I’m so excited to offer Mosser Glass at Fine Vintage Treasures. These are not simply decorative objects. They are part of a long tradition of American pressed glassmaking and craftsmanship that continues today.
A Sneak Peek at What’s Coming Soon
Of course, I wasn’t leaving Mosser empty-handed.
I had the opportunity to see some of what’s coming next, and I’ll be sharing a few sneak peeks soon.
I’m also exploring the possibility of having something special made for Fine Vintage Treasures using one of Mosser’s available molds. Choosing the right piece—and the right color—is going to take some thought, but seeing the molds and possibilities firsthand made the idea even more exciting.
And then there were the kitties.
Fresh From Production: Green Opal Carnival Kitties
One of the best surprises of the trip was being able to bring home the newly produced Green Opal Carnival Sitting Kitties.
They had just been made.
The color is absolutely beautiful in person. The combination of green glass, opalescence, and carnival finish gives each kitty incredible depth and variation as the light changes.
Because they were newly produced and Mosser is closed for the next couple of weeks, I was especially excited to be able to bring some home with me.
These Green Opal Carnival Kitties are now available through Fine Vintage Treasures while my supply lasts.
My visit to Mosser was more than a buying trip. It was an opportunity to see the craftsmanship behind the glass, learn more about the molds and history that continue to shape Mosser’s production, and start thinking about what I can bring to my customers and fellow collectors next.
I came home with new glass, new ideas, and plenty of inspiration.
And I have a feeling this is only the beginning.
Stay tuned for more photographs from my visit, a closer look at how Mosser Glass is made, new pieces coming to Fine Vintage Treasures—and perhaps, eventually, something made especially for us.
